From September 2009, the newly formed Diploma in Business, Administration and Finance (BAF) will be available to young people between the ages of 14-19 in England. The BAF Diploma has been designed in consultation with business and higher education to ensure content that is relevant and current to provide an exciting learning experience for young people as well as offering opportunities to progress into higher and further education or employment.
The Diploma aims to introduce students to a broad range of topics relevant to the world of business using a unique blend of traditional and practical learning experiences. While learners study compulsory subjects such as English, maths and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) alongside BAF. Students will be encouraged to apply what they learn to the context of a real business situation, in this way bringing their learning to life. By blending traditional classroom learning with applied learning situations the Diploma will develop work relevant skills, knowledge and understanding in a creative, relevant and enjoyable way.
BAF is designed to provide a solid grounding in business, administration and finance; to appeal to a range of learners including the most capable students, students who engage better with the innovative approach of the Diploma; and students preparing for employment or work based learning.
The Diploma offers a relevant learning experience without limiting a learners options. Upon completion of the Foundation (level 1) Higher (level 2) or Advanced Diploma (Level 3), students may either choose to continue learning about the Diploma by moving onto the next level, they may change onto another Diploma subject, they might study GCSEs and A Levels or ultimately progress to university or employment.
The BAF Diploma offers progression to an exciting range of opportunities including further training, education, employment as well as additional and specialist learning opportunities.
